2008 Geneva City Budget Approved

The Geneva City Council has approved the 2008 fiscal budget which goes into effect at midnight, October first.

For the first time, the budget will exceed six-million dollars.

Sales tax revenue is up more than a quarter-of-a-million dollars over expectation.

The largest expenditure at $800,000 will go to the city school system and police will receive $ 760,000.

With the closing of the textile industry in the 1990's, Mayor Simmons says the city budget was only three-million dollars eight-years-ago.
