Alabama Attorney General Troy King wants to get tougher on criminals and he is trying to garner up support for a Truth-In Sentencing bill.
Truth-In Sentencing means that criminals would be required to serve out the entire duration of their sentence without getting an early ticket out for good behavior.
King says he stands behind the victims of violent crime, and wants to make sure that those who break the law pay the price.
"There is nothing more important that the state of Alabama can do for law and order and for the victims of this state, than for sentences to finally mean something," said King.
The new truth in sentencing is expected to be debated and voted on during the state legislatures next session
