Local legislators recently announced two-and-a-half million dollars earmarked to develop facilities for several new businesses at the Andalusia-Opp Airport.

The ultimate goal is between five and six-hundred new positions.

The companies looking to locate in Covington County have not been announced, but construction of new hangers and manufacturing facilities is underway at the airport..

Area industrial development officials believe Covington County is moving from the agricultural and textile sectors to a more high-tech job force.
