There's a new tropical depression far out in the Atlantic, and forecasters say it could be a tropical storm later Wednesday.

Tropical Depression Six is centered about 1600, 15 miles east of the Lesser Antilles. That means it's several days from any significant land, though movement is to the west at 17 miles an hour.

Top sustained winds are near 35 miles an hour, but strengthening. Experts say there's not much of a shear threat and the surrounding conditions are very favorable for continued development.

At least for now, forecasters look for the system to turn northwestward before it becomes a real threat to anything in the Lesser Antilles.

Depression centered at latitude 11.4 north, longitude 37.6 west.
