The Dothan City Commission is preparing to finalize its budget for the new fiscal year and city officials are being hit with last minute requests for additional funding by several different agencies.
For instance, the Dothan school system wants nearly $600,000 to hire elementary school art teachers.
Other agencies range from Landmark Park to the local transit system. They have submitted requests ranging from $10,000 to $50,000.
The total requests add up to about $800,000 but city officials say money is tight.
Dothan City Commissioners will hold a workshop meeting in early September so the agencies can explain why they need the extra money and how they plan to spend it.
