Toddler Pulled from Neighbor's Pond in Lee County Dies

SALEM, Ala. (AP) - A 3-year-old Lee County toddler found by his father in a neighbor's pond has died.

Coroner Bill Harris said attempts to revive Cameron Morehead were unsuccessful Saturday.

Sheriff's deputies and paramedics received the 911 call about 5:45 p.m. from a home on Lee Road 158 in Salem.

The father, David Cameron, and neighbors had searched for the child before finding him in the pond. They attempted to revive him.

But he was not breathing when paramedics got to him.

The coroner said the toddler was taken to East Alabama Medical Center where efforts to revive him were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead in the emergency room at 6:56 p.m.

An autopsy is planned. No foul play is suspected.
