A Holmes County woman made her first court appearance Thursday morning for allegedly drowning her 7-year-old daughter.
A judge set the bond at $150,000 dollars.
Officials are shocked by this case.
Twenty-seven-year-old Amanda Elaine Lewis appeared before Judge Owen Powell Thursday morning via live circuit television.
She is charged with drowning her 7-year-old daughter, Little Adrianna Elaine Hutto on August 8th, 2007.
It happened at a white doublewide trailer, located on 3343 First Avenue North in the backyard pool, which was removed by the suspect's boyfriend right after the death.
Police responded to a 911 call to a drowning and weren't suspicious at first, but then, after an investigation, decided to charge Lewis.
Joseph Bien lives just down the street from where the drowning took place.
He can't believe this has happened in his neighborhood.
Police believe they know the motive for the drowning, but they're not releasing the details at this time.
Lewis is charged with manslaughter instead of murder because officials aren't sure if the mother intended on killing Little Hutto.
