Old Murder Case

A man already jailed on multiple drug charges has been indicted by a Pike County grand jury on one count of murder in a case that occurred nearly two years ago.

Brundidge Police Chief Moses Davenport said 22-year-old William Bernard McKinney, also of Brundidge, is now charged in the September 2002 shooting death of 49-year-old Willie Geneva Flowers.

Investigators say motive may have been an argument between McKinney’s mother and the victim.

McKinney is also charged in a separate case with two counts of distributing a controlled substance.

He remains in the Pike County Jail under bonds totaling $150,000.
