Ozark police are still searching for more information on a man who robbed a downtown bank at gunpoint Tuesday.
Police are trying to get the word out to the public asking anyone who saw someone matching the description of the suspect who went into the Colonial Bank branch at about 1:30 afternoon made a gesture with the gun and left with an undisclosed amount of money.
Officials were thinking the case would be open and shut but the surveillance video in the bank was not functioning at the time of the robbery.
Witnesses say he was a white male in his mid-30s with a light complexion and freckles.
He's about 6 feet tall, 220 pounds and was last seen wearing a green striped shirt, blue jeans and an Alabama baseball cap.
Witnesses emphasized that he walked with a noticeable limp.
There is some discrepancy on the hair color though, one witness has him with red hair and another says it was blonde
Ozark Deputy Chief Myron Williams “We're going back now to check with our business in the area to see if they saw anyone yesterday that fit that description or the person may have been inside their business before he went to the bank.”
It's definitely an issue that the video was not working in the bank at the time of the robbery. And one official told me today that these past few years in the wiregrass it's happened several times.
Ozark police urge anyone who has any information on this robbery to call Ozark Police at 774-2644 or Crimestoppers at 774-9999.
