Northwest Florida, South Alabama and South Georgia law enforcement agencies are teaming up once again for "Hands Across the Border".
The annual event, held at both the Florida and Alabama welcome centers, kicks off a program that promotes safe holiday travel on highways in the tri-state area.
Law enforcement will be out in full force during the Labor Day weekend.
Patrols will include DUI checkpoints and additional officers on the roads.
Officials will be looking for seat belt usage, the use of child safety seats, and impaired drivers.
The main focus of the program is to save lives.
Last year in Florida alone 24 people died on the roadways during the Labor Day holiday.
