A local business is taking up donations for troops in Afghanistan.
Gwendalyn Attaway reads a letter from her son Captain Joey Hutto stationed in Afghanistan since April.
Captain Hutto is in the remote mountainous regions of Afghanistan where simple pleasures of warm food and toiletries are a distant memory.
Gwendolyn shared her son's letter with her friend Gladys McDonald who owns River's Lounge Bar in Clayhatchee on State Road 92.
Together they've decided to gather items for the troops.
“We need your help more now than ever. We need some hygiene items and greeting cards or any type of snacks,” said Gwendalyn.
They are in need of snacks, socks, candy, crossword puzzles, and toiletries.
If you would like to donate items, you can take them to the Rivers Lounge or to the Daleville VFW in Daleville.
