CALERA, Ala. (AP) - A child apparently abducted Sunday morning in Calera was found safe in a vehicle abandoned at a service station in Brighton.
Calera Police said a resident heard the one-year-old girl crying and contacted authorities. The toddler was treated for heat exposure and dehydration at Children's Hospital and released to her parents.
The child was taken by a man who fled in a pickup truck owned by Joseph Mims of Clanton.
There were no immediate arrests, and authorities said the male suspect remains at large.
The investigation continues.
