It's NOT a good day to plan on driving Interstate ten in the Florida Panhandle.
There's already a lot of rain ahead of Tropical Storm Bonnie, spread from just south of Tallahassee westward to Pensacola. Plenty more is coming ashore, and there's also the threat of some tornadoes as the center of the tropical system gets closer this morning.
The Panhandle and Big Bend have seen a lot of rain in the past month or two, making trees more likely to fall in a strong wind. A stalled front brought more torrential rain to much of the region again yesterday.
The coastal area of the Big Bend are largely UNdeveloped,
leaving the region's waterfront much like a huge sponge.
