A Midland City police officer at the center of a controversy with the mayor has decided to resign.
It all began after an audiotape came to light, in which there was an altercation between this officer and the mayor after the arrest of the city clerk.
Former Midland City police officer, Bill Camarata told News 4 he doesn't feel comfortable going back to work at the Midland City Police Department after the problem with the arrest of the city clerk.
Camarata says no one told him to leave or threatened him in any way.
He just felt the Midland City Police Department is not going in the direction that he thinks it should.
For the time being Camarata has taken a part time job with another Dale County law enforcement agency.
