A mother and three children are lucky to be alive after a house fire at Chickasaw Street.
Dothan firefighters got a call around 8:15 a.m. about a structure fire at 866 Chickasaw.
Fire officials say they arrived and there were flames and smoke visible.
Luckily, the mother and three children, ages one, three and four-years-old, were sleeping when the fire started got out without injury.
With the intense heat, firefighters could only fight the blaze for 15 minutes before having to switch crews.
“We had to bring out an extra truck because the firefighters can only work about 10 minutes in the extreme heat before they start to suffer from heat exhaustion,” said Johnny Givens of Dothan Fire Dept
The house fire is still under investigation.
