The Dothan City Commission met Tuesday to discuss among other things establishing the biannual budget.
One of the items under consideration for budget funding is the future of Dothan’s recycling program.
At the request of the city commissioners as well as members of the public, city officials are reviewing the possibility of funding a curbside recycling program in the 2008-2009 budget.
In the past, the thought was that recyclable items would be co-mingled when placed at the curb.
The new discussions include the possibility of pre-sorting at the curb.
Included in the funding would be educating the public regarding how to use the recycling program.
The city commission hopes to have a decision on whether the recycling project can be funded in the budget within the next 30 days.
