A child was clinging to life after nearly drowning at a Florida Panhandle recreation area Monday afternoon.
Officials with the Holmes County Sheriff's department say emergency personnel were called to the park at Vortex Springs about 12:45 pm.
A five year old boy had been pulled from the water.
The child was life-flight to a Pensacola hospital; he is listed in critical condition.
Authorities say the circumstances surrounding the incident are still under investigation.
