The Houston County School District has hit a milestone when it comes to conserving energy.
Superintendent Kenneth Lord says the school district has saved more than $1 million over the last four years through conservation efforts, and Lord says that has helped the district during the period of reduced budgets.
The superintendent says the school system was able to cut back on its electricity needs by partnering with Energy for Education.
The company develops and implements customized conservation programs for public schools.
