The head of one Wiregrass school district says the numbers are far better than he ever expected.
The Enterprise School Board held the first of two public hearings on its proposed 2004-2005 budget. Dr. Jim Reese handed out copies of the budget to board members.
The district will operate on a plan just more than $37 million this upcoming year. That’s $2 million more than the current budget.
In his four-years as school superintendent, Reese says these are the best numbers he's ever worked with. He gives much credit to the community. Voters re-approved a property tax last year that is earmarked for schools.
The district will maintain more than a $10 million surplus.
