NAACP chapters across the nation including the Dothan-Wiregrass Chapter are taking part in a voter empowerment program.
The organization's focus is not on which presidential candidate to choose in November, but to just make sure you get out and vote.
Both President Bush and Senator John Kerry were invited to speak at the convention, which attracted about 8,000 people. Bush did not accept the invitation, but Kerry did.
The NAACP wanted both candidates there so that each of their views could be weighed.
President of the Dothan-Wiregrass Chapter Wade Morrison says the organization is not partial and prefers to present both sides so the public isn't persuaded in either direction.
The local NAACP chapter is right in the middle of a voter registration drive, which will continue until ten days prior to Election Day.
