A Florida woman has been sentenced after pleading guilty to murder. Twenty-two-year-old Nancy Mears was charged in the stabbing death of her 18-year-old sister's boyfriend.
Thirty-year-old Hollis Wade Smith was sitting in a car when he was attacked and drove a short distance before he collapsed and ran off the road. It happened last October in front of Mears' home.
Investigators say the woman apparently did not want the older man dating her younger sister and that's what sparked the confrontation.
Mears claimed she acted in self-defense but pled guilty to second-degree murder as part of a plea agreement. She was sentenced to more than 17 years in prison.
