KFH Industries Incorporated has been located in Dothan since 2005, and now the company has decided to move its Miami plant to Dothan also.
This September when the transition to Dothan is complete, there will be 20 new jobs.
Management at KFH says by that point, the company will have hired a total of 200 people from the Dothan area.
"We are the largest manufacturer of fire hoses in the world" says Charles Genthner, President of KFH Industries
The company is located on Columbia Highway.
KFH Industries will soon be expanding by bringing its Miami facility facility-Key Fire Hose Corp- to Dothan.
"Initially it was going to be a small satellite factory but we have had such good reputation here. Our lease in Miami is up in 2011 so Dothan city officials gave us a package for us and made us welcome" said Genthner.
The company plans on growing its clientele from Dothan, and current employees think that means job security.
"It's awesome. We have been here for about 3 years now. This is a good opportunity for Dothan and Alabama" said Louis Derosier, Dothan Plant Manager.
The company goes through 40,000 pounds of polyester yarn a week.
The fire hoses are even shipped internationally.
"It is a necessity in an industrialized society. We have been really good at it in the last 25 years"
The Miami plant is expected to be fully closed by the end of this year.
Because KFH has outgrown the building they are currently in, they do plan on moving in an additional building.
That will be located in the business area on Sixth Avenue.
Currently about 110 employees work for KFH in Dothan and about 20 management positions will come from Miami.
That means a few more families are expected to relocate here.
