Earlier this month, the professional staff at Troy Medical Center was trying to have its say on who purchases the hospital.
The hospitals physicians have formed an L.L.C and taken the steps to purchase the building in hopes of better serving the community.
The doctors felt that ownership from investors and outside business led to a reluctance to invest in the improvement of hospital facilities.
Others in the community feel that the physicians are making the right choice.
Mayor Jimmy Lunsford said, “With the other doctors to offer them an opportunity to become part of the transaction if they do infect get this put together and all the doctors determine they want to buy the hospital, and then in my opinion that's the best case scenario.”
The company that planned originally to buy the hospital pulled out when they were made aware of the physicians’ desires to have the facility owned locally.
