Geneva County Reconsiders Garbage Collection

Will one wiregrass county get back into the garbage business? That was at the center of discussion at Monday’s Geneva County Commission meeting.

Local officials say they've received residential complaints about service and billing statements from the Brundidge Company. Geneva County’s trash service contract with Mark Dunning Industries expires October 31. Commission Chairman Harry Adkison recorded bids for three new garbage trucks

District One commissioner Larry Everett is the strongest supporter of returning household garbage collection to the county. Mark Dunning Industries holds garbage service contracts for several Wiregrass Counties.

Geneva County will have to spend more than $200,000 on trucks to get back into the business.
