TALLASSEE, Ala. (AP) - The Alabama NAACP is calling for a federal investigation into the shooting death of a 20-year-old man at a Tallassee housing project.

Michael McIntyre was fatally shot by Tallassee police at a public housing complex on Dec. 29.

McIntyre was reportedly visiting a friend when officers attempted to serve a warrant on another person.

Police said McIntyre ran, and officers attempted to subdue him using an electroshock device, which failed because he was wearing multiple layers of clothing.

Police said McIntyre pointed a firearm and was shot. A grand jury declined to indict the officer.

The NAACP, which says it has requested but not received reports on the shooting, joined McIntyre's family in asking for an investigation.
