A local radio personality was one of two people who died Thursday afternoon when a small plane crashed near the Alabama state line.
Radio Farm Show host Russ Ragan was flying the Cessna when it went down in a farm pond off of Finn Road near Florida Highway 2.
That's about a mile outside of Campbellton, Florida.
Witnesses tell WTVY News 4 that they heard the plane's engine sputter before they saw it nose dive into a deep trench.
Jackson County Sheriff Authorities say it looks like the plane lost power.
Russ Ragan was pronounced dead on the scene.
His 7 year old passenger died on the way to a Panama City hospital.
Family members identify the boy as 7-year old John Alan Watson of Noma, Florida.
Ragan was well known across the Wiregrass farming community. He hosted a daily farm show at 5:30 every morning on WTVY-FM.
We will have much more on this developing story, coming up on News 4 at 5 and 6.
