The way is now clear for Martha Stewart to be sentenced next Friday.

A judge in New York rejected Stewart's request for a new trial following allegations that a government expert lied on the witness stand.

The judge says that even if the witness had lied, it's not likely the outcome of a new trial would be different. The judge had already denied another retrial request in May.

Stewart and her former broker are considered likely to get 10 to 16 months each in prison for obstructing a federal probe into suspicious stock sales.

Her attorney is expected to take the case to a federal appeals court, but not before sentencing.
