The City of Dothan has a debt it needs to pay, so money can be funneled back into area water needs.
The city is constructing two additional wells because of the pressure being put on the wells already in existence.
Tuesday, City Commissioners approved to set aside a-half million dollars a year from the one-cent sales tax revenue.
That money would go towards the two new wells and finding a way to deal with Dothan’s long-term water needs.
Dothan City Manager Mike West says, “Anything the commission can do at this time to start putting money aside to reduce the impact on rate payers is a positive move.”
Just last month, a major well went down and the wells were already being pumped near capacity.
