Kidnapping Update

The third suspect in a Houston County kidnapping case is still on the run, but one of the men accused of abducting and beating a local teen-ager was in court Monday.

Labrosus Watkins of Huntsville's bond has been set at $500,000. Sheriff Lamar Glover said Watkins was sold marijuana by a Houston County teen and his friend, but they never delivered the drugs.

The 16-year-old allegedly gave the money to a friend and then was supposed to get away. Instead, he was taken to the Huntsville area, where he was stripped and beaten with two-by-fours and an axe handle.

The suspects in the case videotaped the beating. Police now have that tape.

The teen was treated and released at a Decatur hospital.

A juvenile has also been arrested in the case. Glover said he'll be charged as an adult.

Glover said the victim could also be facing charges in this case.

Prosecutors and investigators are trying to decide what charges to file against the teen and his adult accomplice for allegedly taking the suspect's money during the so-called drug deal.
