Enterprise police are investigating a rash of bogus bills that's recently appeared in the city.
Authorities recovered 28 of 29 counterfeit $5 bills used at a business on the Boll Weevil Circle. They believe the funny money was used for one purchase.
Enterprise Police Captain Mike Lolley said the counterfeiter is using smaller denominations to draw less suspicion from the store clerk. $20, $50 and $100 bills are scrutinized more closely by businesses.
Lolley said the secret service has been notified of the counterfeit money and could possibly take over the investigation.
