A confessed killer who claimed he was abused while being held in the Houston County Jail has lost his case in federal court.
Forty-two-year-old Wayne Black was arrested for murder in October of 2002. He was accused of stabbing another man to death in the parking lot of a Dothan nightclub. Police said 51-year-old Johnny Peterman was killed during an argument over drugs.
In April of last year, Black got into a fight with another inmate at the Houston County Jail. Jailers had to pull Black off the man, but Black claimed his constitutional rights were violated because excessive force was used to subdue him.
A federal jury ruled against him yesterday and it took the panel less than an hour to reach a decision. Black did not have a lawyer and represented himself during his trial.
He pled guilty to manslaughter last August and he was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
