Readers of the Washington Post don't have to guess what Vice President Cheney is accused of saying to Senator Patrick Leahy on the Senate floor.
The Post decided to use the actual quote, the four-letter "f" word, followed by the word "yourself."
Leahy and Senate staffers say the angry encounter took place this week, as members had their annual group picture taken.
They say Cheney confronted the Vermont Democrat about the senator's criticism of military contracts awarded to Cheney's former company, Halliburton. They say Leahy responded by criticizing the White House for standing by its allies who accused Democrats of being anti-Catholic. That's when Cheney allegedly cursed him.
The Post quotes its executive editor, Leonard Downie, as saying editors decided to use the actual word because it was said by the vice president to a senator on the Senate floor.
The Post says "a few dozen" readers have complained.
