A man is now in custody for the Monday shooting of a Marianna man.
Robert Jernigan has been charged with manslaughter.
Fifty-two-year-old Curtis Jerome Ryals was found shot to death on Monday afternoon in Jernigan’s front yard.
A preliminary investigation showed that Ryals drove through Jernigan’s locked gate, broke into his home, and attacked him.
Jernigan initially said he fired several shots at Ryals while he was still inside Jernigan’s house, but after an extended investigation, officials found inconsistencies in Jernigan’s statement.
They say Jernigan shot Ryals outside his home as he was running away. Authorities tell us the altercation was over before the shots were fired.
