Some parents said they're fed up with the poor financial condition and academic performance of public schools in Greene County.
A group called Concerned Parents of Greene County is urging parents to keep their children home from school Monday.
School officials would not comment, but said empty classrooms could have an adverse impact because funding each year is determined by the number of students in the first 40 days of the year -- Greene County schools are entering its third week of classes.
Boycott supporters also said parents are tired of run down facilities and think its time for new leadership.
A spokeswoman for the group, Vassie Welbeck-Browne, said she believes 70 to 90 percent of the county's public school students may participate.
