Banking giant Wachovia is buying Southtrust in a deal valued at $14.3 billion.
Local Southtrust executives have been meeting with concerned customers. Bank officials say there are no major changes in store once the transition is made.
Some small businesses are worried that the merge will mean saying goodbye to the neighborhood-banking concept.
The president of Southtrust Bank in Dothan says the transition will go smoothly and the customers won't see any changes initially.
