One Wiregrass sheriff says his department is in danger of losing the war on drugs.
Geneva County Sheriff Greg Ward says without support from area police departments, his drug task force may lose its state funding.
Under the terms of the state grant, at least one police department in the area must designate an officer for the task force.
Sheriff Ward says police agencies in the county say they simply don't have the additional personnel.
If he loses the grant, the sheriff says his department will go from eleven to just seven deputies. And should that happen, he predicts that meth manufacturers will take over the streets.
In the coming weeks, the sheriff plans to plead his case for a drug task force with city councils across Geneva County.
