Country Crossing Closed, Almost Raided

Dothan, AL. Hundreds of Country Crossing patrons left the bingo pavilion at once Friday morning as an announcement glared over the loud speakers.
"For the safety of our employees it is necessary that country crossing be closed at this time."
For most of the day Friday, rumors circulated that the Governor's Gaming Task force planned to raid the site on 231 south,
In the hours before closing Country Crossing communications Dir. Doug Rainer said the threat became "More serious" and could involve as many as 4 other bingo sites across the state.
By 2:00 A.M Friday, the entire facility was cleared and the doors were chained shut.
At roughly 4am, a mile long of state trooper cars pulled into the facility and were met at the door by country crossing officials.
A convoy of 135 state trooper cars, roughly a mile long, drove down U.S.231 and into the Country Crossing parking lot.
At this time, they have no search warrant or an arrest warrant, so legally, they can not enter the facility.
Troopers were met at the front door by Country Crossing attorney Will Matthews and others.
Matthews asked troopers to leave but they refused to do so.
As of 5:30, no one has gone inside the bingo pavilion and its not immediately clear what plan the troopers have.
The trooper spokesperson said they were here to investigate a potential criminal offense.
Victoryland was also the site of a similar raid a this morning. Several hundred state troopers are at the facility in Shorter but patrons continue to play the machines due to the officers can not legally sieze anything without a warrant.
