Truckers are usually some of the best-trained drivers on the road, but their vehicles are also among the most deadly, simply because of their huge size.
The Dothan Police Department is launching a program to regularly inspect 18-wheel trucks and they've received special training to do the job right.
Police also keep tabs on the drivers themselves. By law, truckers can spend no more than 11 hours behind the wheel in a 24-hour period and violators can find themselves grounded.
Officers want to set up inspection points once a month or at least once every quarter.
