Dothan city leaders have plans to widen Fortner Street, but first they need to research how it'll be done.
Commissioners say residents constantly complain about the high traffic area.
The plan would involve adding at least 3-lanes to Fortner Street and the Honeysuckle Road intersection.
Right now there are only two lanes on both roads.
About 13-thousand vehicles travel Honeysuckle Road each day.
“The residents in those subdivisions which are districts 4 and 5 on this road have expected us to fix this problem. So I'm elated to see this come to fruition as far as design work goes,” said Commissioner Taylor Barbaree.
Commissioners plan to put an item on next week's agenda to vote
