Pike County will be taking a ten year loan to pay for some of its operating expenses this fiscal year.
The Pike County commission voted Monday to extend two-ten year loans from Troy Bank and Trust amounting to hundreds of thousands of dollars for the general fund of the county and the county road department.
New tax revenue along with the switch to long term loans instead of short term loans could mean more savings for the county in the future.
The total amount of savings will be available by the end of September when the county commission completes their budget.
