One panhandle hospital will be required to pay an impact fee in order to get a new, replacement facility built.
The Bonifay city council unanimously approved a motion to have Doctors Memorial Hospital spend $100,000 to extend water and sewer lines.
The infrastructure is needed for the new hospital under construction at the Highway 79 and I-10 interchange in Bonifay.
The money will be added to $325,000 state grant that is helping pay for most of the work.
Assistant Hospital Admin. JoAnn Baker said, "Going to be twice the size of the current facility... once complete, folks here will be able to stay close to home instead of having to travel for treatment to receive"
The new Doctors Memorial is expected to be completed sometime next year.
