DOTHAN, Ala. (AP) - A 53-year-old Dothan woman was taken into custody Tuesday and charged with stealing approximately $40,000 in missing driver license receipts.
According to the Alabama Department of Public Safety, Janice Jackson faces five counts of theft following her indictment by a Houston County grand jury.
Jackson, who worked for 27 years in the Dothan examining office, was fired on May 29th.
Public Safety Director, Colonel J- Christopher Murphy, said the investigation started after an audit uncovered irregularities in the depositing fees at the Dothan office.
He also said the investigation continues.
