ATHENS, Ala. (AP) - President Bush will visit both ends of the state on Thursday.
The White House announced Bush will tour the Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant in Athens shortly after 1 pm and the make remarks about energy initiatives.
Then he goes to Mobile to attend a one-thousand-dollar-per-person fund-raising reception for Republican US Senator Jeff Sessions. That's at 5 pm.
Bush's visit to Browns Ferry comes about a month after the plant's Unit One reactor began producing power again. The reactor had been shut down for safety reasons in 1985.
It was the first US nuclear reactor to go online in more than 20 years.
Bush's visit to Mobile is not the first time his administration has helped Sessions with his re-election campaign. Vice President Dick Cheney spoke at a Sessions fund-raiser in Birmingham in April.
