The board met briefly Wednesday and voted to include the committee in its contract with a Dothan law firm.
Committee Chairman Mike Tew says legal representation became an issue after the committee was named as a defendant in a suit filed by four employees of the Dothan Police Department. The workers contend that a Personnel Board Investigation of Police Chief John White is illegal.
A judge will make the final determination.
Tew says using the same law firm as the personnel board will help minimize the cost to taxpayers.
