After reviewing developing weather conditions, the Bay County Emergency Operations Center would like to notify residents and property owners in the river basin areas of western Bay County of potential flooding concerns.

People in these areas should monitor the river conditions for potentially moderate flooding. Residents should also begin to take any precautions and protective actions in the event that their area is impacted by flooding. Those residents in the Otter Creek or Pine Log areas should closely monitor this flooding event. Based upon current conditions the potential exists for flooding in the Choctawhatchee River basin in western Bay County.

The current forecast of the National Weather Service is as follows: The Choctawhatchee River will continue rising to near 18.7 feet at Caryville by midnight Saturday and 20.1 feet at Ebro by Sunday evening. This could produce major flooding in these areas. There is a 50-percent chance of rain tonight with thunderstorms on Friday increasing to 100 percent with the system moving out of the area by late Friday afternoon.
