A Houston County man remains jailed this morning for allegedly hitting two people with his car while they were walking along a road in Cottonwood.
It happened about 10:30 p.m. Monday.
Cottonwood Police Chief Jim Smith says a car was apparently trying to pass another vehicle when two men walking in the 400 block of Grove Street were rundown from behind.
One of the victims is listed in critical condition in a Dothan hospital.
Twenty-five-year-old Kenneth Williams of Cottonwood is charged with two counts of 1st degree assault.
Chief Smith says investigators are trying to determine if Williams was drunk at the time of the accident.
Williams is being held without bond in the Houston County Jail.
