Fire Guts Historic Block in Downtown Talladega

TALLADEGA, Ala. (AP) - A historic section of downtown Talladega
was heavily damaged by fire early Thursday morning.

Authorities said about half-a-block in the downtown district was destroyed.

The blaze started in the old Michael Supply Building off Court Street
at around 4-30 am.

Several businesses are involved and Talladega Mayor Brian York owns the buildings. All the structures are located near the Courthouse.

No word yet on what started the fires.
