Low Water Levels in Pea and Choctawhatchee Rivers

The city of Geneva sits at the fork of both the Pea and Choctawhatchee rivers.

Every morning, Geneva police take water readings on each river in the area. Elderly residents say these are some of the lowest levels they've ever seen.

The hull of a steam boat which sank in the late 1800's is now partially visible for the first time.

The lack of water has cut into recreational boating.

Authorities are also concerned that people may try and walk across the rivers. It's extremely dangerous because of holes, and drop-offs.

Last summer, a Geneva County man drowned in a 20-foot drop off while swimming with friends.
