May is National Foster Care Month and some are taking time out to recognize some special people.
Thursday night at the Lafayette Street United Methodist Church dozens showed up for a foster parent appreciation dinner, where the foster parents were honored for the work they do.
They open their homes to children who are removed from their parents either temporarily or permanently.
There are currently 162 children in Houston County alone in foster care and there is always a need for more foster parents.
If you're interested in becoming a foster parent, you can contact the Department of Human Resources at 677-0400.
