TROY – Troy University will play host to more than 1,300 students from across the state Dec. 3 -5 during the Walter Trumbauer State Theatre Festival.

During the festival, students will participate in individual and ensemble events, audition for scholarships and attend a college fair.

“It’s a pleasure to host this event. It serves theatre students from across the state, and allows students to see and visit our university up close and personal,” said Adena Moree, director of theatre at TROY.

The festival culminates in an awards ceremony on Saturday night, where the winner of the one-act play competition will be announced. The winning play will represent Alabama at the Southeastern Theatre Conference in Lexington, KY in March.

The one-acts will be performed in the Crosby Theatre from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4 and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 5. Performances are free and open to the public. For more information, contact the Department of Theatre and Dance at 334-808-6142.
